This article mainly discusses the screen printing process applicable to bank cards using PVC materials as the card base. Relatively speaking, bank cards have higher requirements for printing colors. Therefore, in particular, bank cards are the object of control. After the bank card printing techniques are often held, there is no difficulty in printing any other PVC card.

The following briefly describes the technical characteristics of bank card network.

First, ink

Card screen printing usually uses solvent type soft plastic screen printing ink. Select ink must consider two major factors: First, the adhesion of ink and printing materials should be strong; Second, the hiding power of ink is higher. This is the key to printing on the card network. Adhesion mainly affects the fastness of the ink and the card substrate, and the hiding power mainly affects the printing quality.

1, transfer ink

When adjusting the viscosity of the ink, be sure to select the appropriate ink, preferably the solvent of the same manufacturer as the ink. Adjustment, the amount of addition should be moderate, the excessive amount of solvent added, the ink viscosity is low, easy to flow to the back of the screen, causing the card pattern becomes paste become fine; if the amount is too small, the ink viscosity is high, the printing capacity blocking network The partial or most patterns of the card cannot be completely reproduced. During the printing process, it should be noted that as the solvent volatilizes, the viscosity of the ink will gradually increase, and the operator must often push the ink on the screen to continuously replenish the adjusted ink.

2, drying

The drying time of the ink is different depending on the size and characteristics of the card pattern. Generally, full-pattern cards have a longer drying time, and the text and small color cards have a slightly shorter drying time. It should be noted that do not print one color immediately after drying. Cool for a while. Because the card material that has just dried is extensible due to heat, generally it can be cooled for about 10 minutes, and the cold wind effect on the printed matter is good.

3, color

When coloring, the color number of the ink is less, generally 3-4 colors are used. If the color of the ink is too much, it is more difficult to bring out the hue that is needed for the year. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the color of the main color.

In blended inks, there are often a lot of bubbles. Low-viscosity inks will debubble naturally for a certain period of time; high-viscosity ones will require the addition of about 1% of defoamer, and even mixing can satisfy the printing requirements.

Second, the screen

1, election network

The production quality of screen printing plays a key role in printing quality. Card screen printing generally uses a 150-350 mesh/inch screen, which can basically satisfy the printing of different inks and various patterns of cards; however, printing gold and silver inks generally requires a screen size of 160-250 mesh/inch. Because there are gold, silver and other metal particles in the gold and silver ink, when selecting the number of meshes, the size of the particle diameters of all gold packets is mainly considered. When the particle diameter is large, a mesh with a small number of meshes and a large mesh is selected.

2, stretch net

Card screen printing general color aluminum alloy frame, when selecting the frame, pay attention to the flatness of the four sides of the frame, whether the frame is distorted; when the old frame is re-stretched, pay attention to use the wheel to grind the frame. At present, more imported nylon mesh yarns are used, and domestic mesh yarns need to be further strengthened in terms of extensibility and wearability.

Stretch the net so that the tension in each corner of the screen remains the same, and the tension of each screen remains the same. The tension of the screen before printing is preferably 14-15N/cm.

In addition, the angle of the stretch net is quite important, except that some full-version patterns may use a 90-degree straight stretch net, and the general pattern is preferably a diagonal stretch net as much as possible, and the stretch net angle is best at 22.5 degrees. The use of the oblique stretch net can effectively prevent the jagged appearance of the mesh at the edge of the card pattern, and improve the clarity and print quality of the graphic and text.

Third, scraper

Squeegee is the tool that the ink in the screen printing pushes and transfers to the substrate. Its construction is very simple, but it has a great influence on the quality of the printed matter. The most daunting choice of scraper is made of polyurethane, which has strong solvent resistance, good abrasion resistance, and can withstand high temperatures below 90°C. Ideal for screen printing solvent-based inks for screen printing.

The hardness of the scraper matches the characteristics of the prints. It is important that the SH60-80's soft scraper is suitable for printing full-page prints; the lines with high precision and text are best used with the SH80 scraper.

The squeegee needs to be often ground. When printing a color and then printing a color, it is necessary to confirm whether the squeegee blade is normal and whether the squeegee has a tendency to bend. The squeegee's squeegee angle, pressure, edge sharpness, and smoothness all have a direct impact on print quality. This requires operators to accumulate work experience.

Fourth, equipment

The card printing equipment is mainly based on plane screen printing and drum screen printing. Plane screen printing machine is the first mechanical screen printing machine, with a wide range of semi-automatic and fully automatic models. The most prominent feature of the drum screen printing machine is that the printing table presents a cylindrical shape. Compared with plane printing machines, roller type screen printing machines require higher operation and precision adjustment, and their printing speed is faster, and product quality is even better. However, regardless of the type of screen printer, it is very important to adjust the distance (net distance) between the screen version and the screen station. The network distance is small, because the screen edition cannot be played well in time after the ink passes, which leads to the screen contact with the substrate. The screen is prone to ink bleeding, which may cause difficulty in drawing ink. The net distance is too large and the screen is imprinted. After the plate is overextending, it is not easy to recover the surface and cause slack, resulting in an error in the printing size and the layout, which has the greatest impact on overprinting. In addition, the net distance and the frame size, ink viscosity, screen tension are also closely linked.

Fifth, overprint

In the printing of cards, it is often necessary to use screen printing and offset printing, where registration is a major difficulty. Since the screen printing is performed through a flexible screen printing, and there is a difference in the screen tension between each screen, etc., it is easy to cause a certain error between the screen printing card pattern size and the plate-making film size, which results in the screen printing card pattern size and the plate-making film size. To a certain degree of error, in the combined printing of screen printing and offset printing, many risks are buried in the registration.

The simple improvement measures are: First, screen printing can be used first for screen printing, and then offset printing for screen printing. Because of this, offset printing can be adjusted according to the actual size of the screen printing. When the size of the cornice is different from that of the trailing edge, the vertical size of the offset image can be adjusted by adjusting the blanket of the offset printing press and changing the lining thickness of the printing package; the lateral size can be re-engraved according to the actual size of the screen printing and the hydrogen plate printing film. After the above simple adjustment, the problem of screen printing and offset printing can be significantly improved. Of course, if the surface is replaced during the process of screen printing due to bankruptcy and other reasons, you need to adjust the change in print size.
